What to do if you have one day in Denver

If you only have one day in Denver, you can maximize your day and explore the city like a local with our guide. After exploring some of these city highlights, you’ll be planning your next extended visit because the Mile High City is so much fun to explore!

First, start your morning with a pastry from Izzio’s at the Denver Central Market in the RiNo art district. Fuel up on a pastry and locally roasted coffee before spending a couple of hours walking through the streets exploring the graffiti art covered walls. Pro tip: Don’t miss the alleyway behind the Denver Central Market.

There’s a self-guided graffiti art tour that might be of interest if you want to learn about the art and artists. Many of the newer murals and paintings have QR codes you can scan as well to provide more information. This part of the city has become an iconic neighborhood so we always suggest a visit if you have time to spare.

Next, pay a visit to historic LoDo. Before the renovation of Union Station, our Lower Downtown (LoDo) was basically barren. Today it is vibrant and most of our historic buildings are within a few blocks of the transit hub. A walk from Larimer Square to Union Station will offer photo opportunities of historic architecture. Pro tip: Grab a beverage at Milk Tea People for your walk.

Later, join us on an afternoon Denver food tour and explore the local food scene with us. We will eat, drink, walk, and repeat over the course of a few hours.

Most of our tours run from 2-5pm, so that leaves time before the tour to explore the city and time after the tour to visit an iconic place like Meow Wolf.

Get tickets to Meow Wolf in advance for a 6pm or 6:30pm entrance. You will have enjoyed a meal on our tour, so skip the traditional early evening dinner and wrap your head around Denver’s immersive art installation instead. Pro tip: Meow Wolf has an awesome food court, so you can grab a bite there if you get hungry.

Finally, plan a unique night cap. If the top bars in the world are of interest to you, make a reservation at Williams and Graham. For those who don’t drink alcohol, Denver’s zero proof cafe and bar Awake might be enjoyable.

If you’re a fan of live music, see who is performing at Red Rocks, The Mission Ballroom, or at a smaller venue like Nocturne.

When you’re planning your visit, don’t hesitate to reach out to us with any questions. We’re always happy to chat with visitors and keep them up to date on what’s going on in Denver.
