Ten Things to do in Denver in December 2021

There are so many fun things to do in Denver during the month of December. For visitors and locals alike, this month is packed with festive activities. Here are some of our favorite suggestions, in no particular ranking order:

Denver Holiday Activities

  1. The Mile High Tree– Denver displays an enormous 110 foot tall immersive art installation tree. You can walk through the dazzling tree and enjoy a music and light show. This is fun for all ages!
  2. Denver Christkindlmarket– Denver proudly hosts an authentic German holiday market selling handcrafted gifts and German food and drinks. Transport yourself to Europe right here in Denver.
  3. Blossoms of Light at the Denver Botanic Gardens– December is the perfect month to explore the botanic gardens as they’re lit up with light displays and large field of sound-reactive animated LED lights. It’s an experience you’ll want to repeat every year!
  4. Theater, Music, and Dance– There are festive shows all month long all over the city, including classics like The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol, as well as brass performances, jazz tributes, Polar Express rides, and more.   5. Kid-friendly Luminova Holidays at Elitch Gardens– Denver’s downtown amusement park has transformed itself into a children’s winter wonderland with light exhibits, a candy cane tunnel, Old Saint Nick, light-up hop scotch, and night time rides.
  6. Ice Skating in Downtown Denver– There’s something about ice skating in the heart of downtown that is a quintessential winter time activity. Denver has a downtown ice skating rink that is a local and visitor favorite.
  7. Parade of Lights– December 4, 2021 is the popular Parade of Lights in downtown Denver. Illuminated floats, marching bands, helium balloons, and all of the pomp and circumstance of a big city holiday parade make this parade an annual tradition for families throughout the Denver-metro area.
  8. Visit Boulder– Just a short drive from Denver is quaint Boulder, Colorado. Their downtown Pearl Street mall is decorated for the holidays and is a fun place to dine and shop for unique gifts. Boulder is also located right in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, and they light up a large star called the Boulder Flagstaff Star that shines over the town for the holidays.   9. Miracle Bar Pop Ups– This December Denver is hosting two Miracle Bar Pop Ups to transport the over-21 crowd to a festive drinking experience. Both Union Station and Avanti food and Beverage will have you wishing you had packed your Christmas sweater while you sip on finely crafted holiday-themed libations.
