Frequently Asked Questions

If you have a question that is not listed below, please email megan@localtabletours.com

Should I tip the tour guide?
Yes. Please tip your tour guide. Your ticket price does not cover a tip for your food-loving guide. If you’ve enjoyed the tour, please show your guide a little appreciation.

We would like to give a food tour as a gift to friends, how should we go about this?
Tours make great gifts! Gift certificates are available for purchase on our website and do not expire.

How many people are usually in each food tour?
We generally host groups between 4-10 on our tours. We are also able to arrange private tours for any size group, starting with a minimum of just two people.

Do I have to purchase tickets to food tours in advance?
Yes, advanced ticket purchase is required. To ensure that you get the date you prefer, please book well in advance through our online registration system.

What is included in my ticket price?
Your ticket covers food and/or drink tastings at each establishment featured on your food tour. *Ticket price does not include tip for tour guide.

What kinds of food will we eat?
Each tour is a unique experience where our featured chefs choose a dish to serve. Many of our featured restaurants have relationships with local farms and change their menus to reflect the best in fresh, local ingredients. So basically, it’s always a surprise. We don’t place orders for food. Someone else decides what to serve us.

How physically fit do I need to be to enjoy the walking food tours?
Sometimes we walk as little as a few blocks, and sometimes we walk from one side of downtown to the other. It all depends on which establishments are available to host us on a particular tour. There are sometimes hills, there may be stairs, and seating is available at all restaurant stops.

Will the tour still go if it rains (or snows)?
Tours are held rain, shine, or snow. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, the Front Range is a convenient placeĀ for planning a walking tour. Short afternoon showers are common in the spring and early summer, so please dress appropriately and bring an umbrella if necessary. Tours may be rescheduled due to severely inclement weather such as a blizzard, torrential rain, or dangerous winds.

Where should I park?
There are a number of parking facilities in downtown Boulder.

Denver tours usually require street parking. If you have any questions, just ask and we will offer advice.

Downtown Fort Collins has ample street and garage parking.

Can I bring my child on the tour?
Children can certainly join us on our tours, but please keep in mind that we will be sampling chef prepared dishes that not all children will enjoy. We have had a number of parents leave the tour early because of their child, so especially young children might not be able to make it through the entire tour. Our tours may not be appropriate for all children, especially not an alcohol-focused tour or coffee tour. You know your child best, and if you think he or she would appreciate our tour, please bring him or her along. But, note: Parents must purchase tickets for all children ages four and older, regardless of whether or not a child eats while on tour.

What if I have dietary restrictions?
Vegetarians are easily accommodated. Nut allergies should be communicated to us as far in advance as possible. Lactose intolerance is accommodated at most places, but a visit to our local cheese shop may be on your itinerary if you’re on a food tour. Guests with celiac disease should contact us before purchasing your tour ticket. Guests who are not Celiac but who choose to avoid gluten can sometimes be accommodated if you notify us in advance.

Please note- if you’re gluten, dairy, nut, and animal free, you might not be able to enjoy everything served on a food tour.

We will communicate with our featured restaurants and do our best to make appropriate substitutions to accommodate your needs. However, If you’re on a special diet, a food tour might not be for you.

How much food will we eat on our dining tour?
Our food tours typically feature 3 dining stops and a dessert stop. Each featured restaurant on culinary tours will provide a taste of a signature dish or dishes. These portions will vary according to each restaurant, but will be a minimum of a small plate per person, per restaurant, which is enough for most people to feel satisfied at the end of a tour. If you have room for a light meal after your tour, please consider letting Megan make you a VIP reservation somewhere satisfying for no additional fee.

Can I get a refund or reschedule my tour?
Tickets are non-refundable but are transferable. If you can’t attend, you may give your tickets to a friend.

What happens if I do not arrive to the tour on time?

The tour guide will attempt to contact you, but you might miss the tour. Tours start on time and once started, you might not be able to join. It’s best to plan to arrive a few minutes early.
